Soldiers Beat and Disgrace 34-year-old Married Man in Public Over Girlfriend

A married phone repairer has been brutally battered and publicly disgraced by soldiers over an incident with their girlfriend.

A 34-year-old mobile phone repairer has been publicly disgraced after he was beaten and nearly stripped n*ked in public by soldiers. The incident happened in Bolgatanga area of Ghana and has been met with outrage by the people.

It was gathered that soldiers in Ghana are known for such inhumane brutalities and callous behaviour.

Narrating the ordeal, Yahaya Nashiru who is nursing his wounds after two army officers in Bolgatanga physically assaulted him after a mobile phone he had received from the girlfriend of one of the officers to repair got missing said that a woman identified as Halima had brought a Samsung Galaxy phone to him to unlock. But unfortunately it got missing and when he bought the same brand of phone to replace it, Halima rejected it.

However, last Sunday, Halima called him on phone in the evening at about 7:00pm gave him direction to where she was, for him to bring the phone to her to have a look at it again.

It was when he got there that the two army officers with her started beating and molesting him. Nashiru didn’t know that Halima had called her army friends to deal with him. It is believed one of the army officers is dating Halima.

According to the Chronicle, one of them then ordered him to bring the same phone the lady gave to him to unlock. He said when he told them he had misplaced the phone but had bought a similar one for the lady, the officer took the phone from him and started beating him up.

According to Yahaya, the soldiers unleashed slaps and blows mainly on his face and head, as passers-by looked on helplessly.

It later took the intervention of some of his relatives to plead with the soldiers to release him. He said but for the intervention of his relatives, his tormentors would have stripped him naked.

When asked if he could identify them, the victim answered in the affirmative; “I can identify the soldiers. “One of them is called Nana, but they call him ‘animal’. I can identify them,” he emphasized.

He said he was now living in fear because some soldiers went to his house to look for him, but when they did not find him, they told his mother they would be back.

“They were telling my mother that they have not even beaten me; they just touched me. It’s now that they are coming to beat me, because somebody reported the case to their boss and their boss gave them the go-ahead to beat me. They asked her to produce me, trying to harass her, saying all sorts of things,” the trembling victim narrated.

Yahaya had said he would not report the case to the police for now, because he felt he was only going to waste his time because the police and the soldiers were security officers.
