Euro: Wales beat Slovakia as Switzerland defeat Albania

Euro: Wales beat Slovakia as Switzerland defeat Albania
Wales beat Slovakia 2-1 in Bordeaux on Saturday as both teams took part in their first-ever game in the European Championship finals.
Gareth Bale grabbed the opening goal as his superb free kick in the first half set Wales on their way in front of a huge following of Welsh fans in south west France.
Slovakia threatened occasionally through Marik Hamsik but substitute Ondrej Duda scored seconds after arriving on the pitch to make it 1-1.

Wales then grabbed a late winner through Hal Robson-Kanu as they sit on three points in Group B after their opening game of EURO 2016 and their first game in a major tournament since 1958.
Meanwhile, the Swiss national team got off to a successful start at the 2016 European Championship, recording a narrow and hard-fought 1-0 victory over Albania.
33,805 spectators in Lens saw Switzerland create early pressure and take the lead through TSG Hoffenheim’s Fabian Schär after just five minutes.
Albania’s skipper Lorik Cana was sent off after 37 minutes following his second bookable offence.
EURO debutants Albania still managed to cause problems for Switzerland but in the end the team of head coach Vladimir Petkovic prevailed and they now join France at the top of the standings in Group A, after the hosts beat Romania 2-1 on Friday night in the opening game of the tournament.
