6 Ways To Keep a Healthy Body

Maintaining a healthy body lengthens your life span and increases the likelihood that you can maintain a high quality of life as you age. Following these 6 ways to keep a healthy body helps you reach and keep a high level of health.

1. Use alcohol in moderation.

When it comes to alcohol consumption, moderation is one of the most important ways to keep a healthy body. Women of all ages and men older than 65 should have no more than one drink a day, while men under 65 can have up to two drinks a day. Moderate drinking can help decrease the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and stroke.
A single drink is equivalent to 12 ounces of beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of liqueur.

2. Avoid or stop smoking.

Approximately one out of every five deaths is the result of cigarette smoking. Smoking affects every organ in the body, increasing the risk of cancer, heart disease, and stroke.
If you have tried to quit but cannot, your doctor can suggest a prescription medication to help control your cravings. Regular exercise and support groups can also assist you in quitting for good.

3. See your doctor regularly.

Getting regular physicals and taking advantage of screening tests helps detect issues before they turn deadly. Blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and sugar levels are just a few things your doctor can monitor to ensure optimal health.
Cancer screenings can detect cancer while it is still in a single location and easier to treat. These screenings are effective ways to keep a healthy body.

4. Maintain or reach a healthy weight.

Obesity increases the risk of suffering from heart disease, sleep apnea, a stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, and certain kinds of cancer. Losing even a small amount of weight can help decrease these risks.
To lose weight, you should increase your activity level while decreasing your food consumption. If you burn 250 additional calories while consuming 250 less calories on a daily basis, this provides a daily calorie deficit of 500 calories. You can expect to lose approximately a pound a week.

5. Do regular strength training workouts.

Strength training workouts help preserve bone density, increase or maintain muscle mass, and improve the metabolism. You should complete two strength training sessions each week; each session should work all of the major muscle groups.
When strength training moves are performed back to back, this keeps the heart rate elevated, allowing the session to also function as a cardiovascular workout.

6. Use sun protection each day.

Sunscreen isn’t just for sunny days at the beach; every day that you go outside, even if it is cloudy, you should apply sunscreen. Make sure to use a broad spectrum product with an SPF of at least 30. Don’t skimp! To cover the entire body, you need about 1.5 ounces of sunscreen (the size of a standard shot glass).
When it comes to good health, you must focus on multiple aspects. By following these simple ways to keep a healthy body, you can take the necessary steps to maintain a healthy mind, body, and soul.
