Attorney on Messi: “He’s like the boss of a criminal structure”

Lionel and Jorge Messi’s defence in their case of alleged tax evasion has zero credibility, according to the State Attorney Mario Maza.
Days remain until the Barcelona star is expected to captain Argentina in the Copa America this summer, but he and his father remain in Catalonia to stand trial.

Both deny any wrongdoing, despite being accused of tax fraud in relation to the 28-year-old’s image rights from between 2007 and 2009, with Messi Jr. saying that dad Jorge takes care of off field issues for him.
Maza is a self confessed Barcelona fan but says that Messi should have to pay his taxes like anyone else.
“Messi’s story has no credibility.
“He is a player who brings joy to many Barcelona supporters, including me, but he cannot say his father did not inform him.

“Messi knows more than he is letting on, even a ten-year-old would understand this situation.
“He’s like the boss of a criminal structure but he should have to pay taxes in Spain.”
This belief follows on from prosecutor Raquel Amado’s view the player should be acquitted.
